Karen has a BA in Communications Arts with a concentration in journalism, and worked for many years in the field of advertising and graphic design. She is a co-founder and past Vice President of the Self-employed Writers and Artists Network, a professional association with over 100 members.
One of Karen’s life goals is to canoe each of New Jersey’s rivers twice--downstream and upstream.
"We hope Wild New Jersey will get people thinking about being outside more," says Karen. "Right now, a lot of people spend only about 15 minutes a day outside--a mad dash to the car in the morning, then again at the office, and repeat in reverse at night. Otherwise, we're looking at nature through windows.
"Nature is far more complex than we realize, and probably more complex than we could ever imagine. We need to learn so many things."
Karen is a life-long resident of New Jersey, and proud of it.
