NATIVE AMERICAN EXHIBITS AND DANCING AT BUDD LAKE, NJ

George Whitewolf, who has been presenting Native American Pow Wows for years, brings his "Return of the Indian Spirit" to New Jersey this weekend. The Pow Wow is a wonderful opportunity for New Jersey residents to learn more about Native American culture and traditions. Held at Budd Lake's Vasa Park in Morris County, this year's Pow Wow will feature:

  • Native American drummers and singers, and hundreds of costumed dancers competing for prizes.
  • Wildlife exhibits, including live eagles, hawks, and owls, plus buffalo, bears, and wolves. Handlers will give presentations on their animal companions.
  • Native American foods, including buffalo burgers, fry bread, Indian tacos, and buffalo stew with wild rice.
  • 50 of America's finest Native crafters. Native American arts and crafts will be for sale.
  • Aztec Dancers from Mexico City, performing ancient ceremonial dances, including the Sacred Fire Dance.

Visitors can stroll through a tipi village and listen to various Native American and environmental lectures in the "Education Circle."

  • Friday, September 20th is Student's Day, hours 9:00am til 2:00pm.
  • Saturday, September 21st hours are 10:00am til 9:00pm. On Saturday night, visitors can participate in a bonfire dance.
  • Sunday, September 22nd hours are 10:00am til 6:00pm.

Admission is $8.00 for adults, and $3.00 for children 6-12. Children under 5 may enter for free. For more information, call the Pow Wow Hotline at 1-434-929-1950. Or visit their Web site at:
